Why year five is the one people remember
Wood is the first anniversary material that lasts. Paper tears, cotton fades, flowers die on schedule — but wood is the marriage material: it takes a scratch, develops character, and gets more beautiful as it ages. (The metaphor writes itself, which is why I didn't resist it.)

The three rules that beat any list
- Date beats initials. Initials say “this is yours.” Your wedding date says “this is ours.” If you engrave one thing, engrave the date.
